Kagura (Sacred Music and Dance)

帝釈峡スコラ神楽共演会

Jinseki Kogen-cho’s kagura, or sacred Shinto music and dance, combines the traditions of both the Bitchu and Izumo regions.

Under the name Toyomatsu no Kagura (meaning “kagura of Toyomatsu”), these performances have been designated as Intangible Folk-culture Properties by Hiroshima Prefecture.

Two types of kagura, which have served as important traditions for locals, are seen in this area: Hakkasha Kagura, the sacred music and dance performed at local shrines, and Kojin Kagura, the type performed in farming households.
